Food is awesome and the staff is the just helpful. The food is made to order and they know how to pair things. They do have a traditional supper club on one night a week, but there are things all around to add to just the supper club. The new owners seem really in touch with food and customers. Come out and try it. I have been there many times and have yet to leave not satisfied!

Beginners beware! There is apparently a deep rooted patron system governing this restaurant. Went for the Friday fish, immediately upon arrival were asked "what'd ya have?" Made snap judgment decision (apparently Fridays you pre order) unsure about what we actually were getting. Super nice bartender, she's the only one that earns the stars. After being seated we asked about the salad bar, assuming we had ordered it. The waitress shrugged, rolled her eyes and walked away. This pre order system does make service prompt, but definitely not attentive. The fish was average, coleslaw was good, the beans were confusing. At the end of our meal my husband and I stared at each other, uncertain of our next move. We finally went to the cashier, who advised that we had unknowingly purchased $7 worth of salad bar that we thought was included in the meal. Great Andes mints.

Good to eat at a local place but was a little underwhelmed. Portion sizes are smaller than expected. Food was good, but nothing too memorable. One-stop type of place for me.

VERRY VERRY DISAPPOINTED!!!!! My husband and I stopped for dinner. We asked the hostess how long of a wait, she informed us 25 minutes. After an hour of waiting we were finally seated. We both ordered the Friday fish, it was horrible. The fish was very small, extremely hard to cut, and I felt like I was chewing on rubber band's. I am here to tell you we will NEVER go back. If I could give Syl's zero stars I would.

A week I look forward to each year. The week I get together with the guys I grew up with. Each year we take a turn in planning it, but each year is my duty to find an All-You-Can-Eat Friday Night Fish Fry. Not all of us eat the Fish Fry, so I have to find a place that has a menu besides. Syl's fit that bill. We drove about 20 minutes from our rented house, which the owners of gave a good recommendation to Syl's. In fact they gave us a little dirt on why there is a big banquet hall right across the street from Syl's. But I'll leave that to the local lore. Syl's has a large parking lot which we found a couple of spots easily. We walked into the Entrance, which is on the side of the building closest to the parking lot, and find a hole in the wall. Not that the place is a hole-in-the-wall, but really. You're greeted by a lady behind a hole in the wall. She asks us how many, followed by what would we like to order? They have a dry erase whiteboard with all the fish specials listed. Quite a few to choose from. The All-You-Can-Eat Friday Night Fish Fry is ordered one of two ways. Battered Fried or Oven Baked Cod. The Oven Baked sold for about a buck more. I went with Battered Fried. Which 3 others did. The 2 that didn't went with Broaster Fried Chicken & a Bacon Cheeseburger. We were then handed a little piece of paper with #62 on it. We were told our number would be called when our table was ready. There is a bar just off to the side of the lobby area which we all gravitated to. I took a look at the 6 or so taps they offered and picked out a Brown Ale from a local brewery. Most went with the traditional Brandy Old Fashioned. We had not even paid for our drinks when our number was called. We hurried up paying and made our way to our table. We got a large round one that was off in an added banquet-like room. There was one other table occupied in there, which had at least 20 people celebrating something or another. Loud & happy, they were. Not a good choice in seating us, I thought. I saw other tables that could accommodate us on the way to ours that were out in the real part of the restaurant. This felt like we were stuffed back in the corner. Our server Ben came by real quick and noticed we all had a drink, so he left just as quick to go grab the beginnings of our feast. He brought out Fresh Baked Bread with butter pats & Coleslaw. Fresh Baked Bread? Perfect. The Coleslaw is house made, but wasn't the creamy kind. It was the vinegar kind, but sweetened up a tad. Boy, that was some great slaw. Crunchy & fresh. With a fantastic green color. The two that didn't order the Fish Fry couldn't stop themselves to some of our offerings. About ten or so minutes later, Ben started bringing out our feast. Everything was served "family style". A huge heaping plate of Fried Fish. Large bowl of baked beans. Enormous plate of French Fries. We started passing the servings around. Enough Fish for two to three pieces per person to start with. A squeeze bottle of Tartar Sauce was on the table when we sat down. A squirt of that on the Fish got me started. Lovey taste. Lightly beer battered. Wonderful crunch to the shell. Flakey insides just fell apart. This Fish is fork worthy. The Beans were standard. Bushes is my guess. The Fries were the worst part of the meal. Frozen crinkle cut kind. Very blah & forgettable. Lemon was provided at a request. That was a pretty plate of Lemons. All plated up to look like a flower. Impressive! The perfect wedge size, too. Enough squeeze for three pieces of Fish. Ben was really on top of his game. Always checking up on us, our drinks, our reorders. Everything. I even ordered a White Russian for the first time. Hey. I'm on vacation. I lived a little. We got a couple extra servings of Fish. Every time it was fresh out the fryer. At the end, he tried real hard to sell us on a dessert, but to no avail. He separated all our checks with no problem and told us to just pay him or up front. We left our money on the table and exited a happy bunch. The cost of the AYCE Friday Night Fish Fry? $12.50. If you want it Baked, $13.00, I think? For what we got, it's a perfect price point. I'd recommend Syl's. They serve up a fantastic Wisconsin style Fish Fry. Just try and get a table in the real part of the restaurant.

I love this place! Syl's just won a ton of votes to place first place for best fish fry in the county, second year in a row! I know why! The beer batter is light with just the right seasoning and the cod is always tender. The broiled or citrus is great, too. It's served up with choice of potato, plus coleslaw, beans, and their own made from scratch tarter sauce, best I ever tasted! They have nice variety on their regular menu, plus soup and salad bar. My favorite time to go there is midweek when the atmosphere is more relaxing. They run specials like build your own pasta or meatballs, complete with lefse, great comfort food. I love the beef tips, too. The service is always topnotch. I also would recommend for parties. They have a nice room for that and book weddings, too. Highly recommend!

Very DISAPPOINTING...took my family there for their "thanksgiving" brunch, it was awful! When we arrived it was problem after problem. Here's the list... -was out of plates by the "hot" food -lettuce and buns were gone -the "hot" food was less than hot along with being very dried out. -the meat was dry and tough -service was terrible minus the older gentleman bartending -management was rude -bathroom was FREEZING!! -my 93 year old Grandma had to wait till we were almost leaving for her cup of coffee because those to were all dirty. -OH ALMOST FORGOT...no pumpkin pie, that to was gone. ***keep in mind also, they weren't even busy when we got there...many empty tables! We have come to Syls many times and looked forward to this dinner only to be completely disappointed, my frozen pizza I made when we got home was BETTER! The new management sure has a lot to figure out.

Friday night fish fries. It's a staple of this part of the country and Syl's does a good job. They do it a little different here: When you come in and stop at the host/hostess station, you pick whether you want the 1) all you can eat, or 2) three piece meal. While you wait at the bar for your seating number to be called, unless you're lucky enough to get there early and be seated immediately, you can watch the bartenders keep up with the mob of customers in the large bar area. Or, you can just come to the bar and watch the game. Syl's serves family style when at least two people get the same thing. We ordered the three piece meal, but I presume the all you can eat is served the same way. I rather like this approach. It's simpler and easier. It works well if one of you is less hungry than the others. In a nod to those who prefer non-fried, Syl's offers broiled fish instead fried for about a half-dollar more. If you get the fried fish, it has a light breading. It looks a bit like a fish stick, but tastes a lot better. The fries aren't anything special, but the coleslaw is really good if you like the vinegar-based kind. I could have eaten that bowl by myself. Come to think of it, I probably did. It was that good. That's the nice part of family style, when my friends didn't want theirs, I didn't have to scrape it off their plates. Syl's is out on the country, away from the main road, so it might take some doing to find it. There's a nice vibe here: it's a rustic space, with an open setting and plenty of natural light. It's crazy busy here on Fridays, so expect short wait. Syl's is worth finding. If the rest of their menu options are as good as the fish, you can't go wrong here.

My friend from out of town came in for the weekend....missing a good old Wisconsin fish fry......we took her to Syls Place. She was not disappointed from the tradiional brandy old fashioned sweet to the fish fry. You can do 3 piece or all you can eat. They take your order, give you a number and max wait maybe 20 minutes. You arrive at your table and immediately are given cole slaw, bread, and a carafe of ice water. In minutes your fish is out with your choice of potatoe or veggies. Place is packed you have the good old fashioned Wisconsin Supper Club atmosphere with a Fish Fry Friday..staff wears Thank Cod It's Fryday tee shirts to add to the fun!
